The stone is dark grey in colour with occasional lighter veins and the surface is polished smooth to the touch.  These planters have a clean, cool look and natural tones making them a versatile and stylish choice.  The styling is contemporary; but like most stone planters they will look at home in both traditional and modern settings. Laurus Nobilis (also known as Bay Tree or Bay Laurel) is an evergreen plant grown for its' culinary uses, aromatic foliage, and as a dense topiary specimen. It stands clipping well and thrives in coastal regions where it will form good hedges. It can be subject to frost damage in cold areas, but new growth is quick to appear in Spring. It is happy in full sun or part shade and its dense green shiny leaves produce black fruits in September/October. Suitable for all types of well-drained soil.  Trim to shape using sharp seccateurs. It is important the growth is kept under control and the plant is not allowed to grow out of shape. If this does happen, trim little and regularly to slowly restore shape. Remove any unwanted growth on clear stem, and from base of plant. Water regularly but sparingly.
